Pickleball was invented in 1965 on Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle, Washington. Three dads – Joel Pritchard, Bill Bell, and Barney McCallum. Pickleball is a popular sport in America and Canada. The game is growing internationally as well, with many European and Asian countries adding courts. Increase daily to become a pro sport in the near future similar to tennis.
Pickleball is a fun and addictive game that is played on a badminton-sized court. It combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong.
It is played with paddles and a ball similar to a wiffle ball but slightly smaller in size. The net used is a slightly modified tennis net and is lowered to 34 inches at the center.
Pickleball can be played both indoors and outdoors and as either doubles or singles. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast paced competitive game for experienced players. It is great for teaching hand eye coordination.
